Remote work allows utilisation of international experts. Future supply network is resilient and agile 2030: Borders have disappeared from supply. Real-time supply network is customer-driven and responses quickly to individual demands. Data from the network creates new business opportunities. How: Design for supply chain, data platforms enable transparency, green data collection, and creation of new value. The supply chain is simulated in advance to meet the desired goals. Regional supply networks enable tailoring close to customer and resiliense. With novel manufacturing methods products match precisely customers’ needs 2030: Flexible methods generate new features, shapes, structures and materials for the product. The manufacturing methods do not limit the capabilities to build a product matching the exact customer needs. How: Research, development, and manufacturing are integrated to R&D&M with a digital thread. Hybrid manufacturing combines subtractive and additive technologies. Agile autonomous production lifts the competitiveness to a new level 2030: New product introduction can take place concurrently with the ongoing production. Robotic cells perform manufacturing phases autonomously, and the tools can be compiled automatically based on the product. How: The production relies on autonomous decision making, real-time situational awareness and human support in the decision making. Production machines and systems are connected. Simulations and digital twins assure maintaining continuous operation. • Heavy On-road | SIX Sustainable Industry X

In 2035, Finland's heavy on-road transport will be sustainable (people, profit, planet) and lead the way also on a global level. It enables completely new value across the entire value network. 1/2 Vision In 2035, Finland's heavy on-road transport will be sustainable (people, profit, planet) and lead the way also on a global level. It enables completely new value across the entire value network. Jointly enable the realization of company-specific and broader 'digital green' goals. The cluster enables to solve heavy and time-consuming challenges together with industrial and research actors, in an efficient way utilizing a common maintainable roadmap. Objectives Enabling the continuous availability of the skills needed by companies by jointly identifying the future competence needs and focus areas of the sector, developing training based on them and sharing information between the actors. Together we will enable better visibility of heavy on-road sector operators in Finland and around the world, so that we can build a more favourable operating environment for us. Jointly influence funding, standards and other decision-making. Roadmap Human Fleet Infrastructure System / process Value network Sustainable business: Contractual and finance aspect, novel business models Zero emission system (including powertrains, vehicles, infrastructure) Control systems for intelligence (clarified component, vehicle and system levels) Customer / human in the loop Data-intensive services, connectivity and intelligence Autonomy /automation in logistics Themes Sustainable Business Zero emission system Control systems for intelligence Customer & human in the loop Data intensive services, connectivity and intelligence Autonomy & automation in logistics Sustainable business By 2035, electricity will have become the most cost-competitive solution in most use cases. Business and market bottlenecks have been eliminated and electrification is scaling up strongly. Fast charging up to MW level is common, and the management of vehicle operations and energy supply are integrated. New innovative pricing and service models have enabled entirely new ways of operating and enabling value creation. Control systems for intelligence Intelligent electric vehicle and fleet control systems are in production use. Fleet and operational control is based on knowledge. Zero emission system In 2035, fully electric, carbon-neutral vehicles will be widely used in road transport, partly driven by new regulations and incentives. A critical charging infrastructure has been built, which enables electric operation in fairly large areas. Digital product passports are in use. Zero emissions of products also include zero emissions from transport, and the assessment and definition of the total carbon footprint brings added value to customers. Customer & human in the loop In 2035, environmental and sustainability impacts have become selection criteria in procurement and operator selections. They also guide the development of operations and provide operators with a competitive advantage. Taking environmental impacts into account is built into all operations. Assistance extends to the entire operation, within which there are also autonomous functions. Devices and systems assist people in completing the task, improving efficiency, safety and quality. New meaningful jobs increase the attractiveness of the sector and contribute to the availability of sufficient labour in terms of quantity and quality. Data intensive services, connectivity and intelligence In 2035, there will be a broad awareness of the value-added potential of the logistics chain. Data is collected extensively and it can be shared, enabling new multilateral value-added services developed also by third parties. The logistics chain is a strong enabler of new value in terms of transported products. Autonomy & automation in logistics The autonomy levels have been defined and the autonomy level is scalable according to the situations and cases of use. At the vehicle level, autonomous solutions are used in closed environments, while intelligent assisted solutions are commonplace in road traffic. The autonomy (control and management) of the logistics chain is highly developed.
