There are several mobile work machine development companies in Finland that are market leaders in their own field. They also utilize a large number of partner and supplier companies in their development. This network forms the core of Finnish export industry and their effect on Finnish GDP and wellbeing is substantial. There is, however, a digital and green transition and disruption going on and the companies need to react, restructure and redesign their offering. This will require a completely new set of skills and know-how.

A cluster of mobile work machine companies have created a joint roadmap for future development and to answer to this need
The roadmap also gives guidelines about future research needs and competence development needs. This project will facilitate a research network to complement the roadmap created by the cluster. Future development will require top research and education and collaboration of different universities and their knowhow and platforms. Tampere University has announced a Platform of Excellence (PoE) to support this development. And this project aims to strengthen the PoE with creating a national and international top research and education network. Core partners come from Turku, Lappeenranta and Vaasa.
