System of Impact: The SIX Story from Joint Vision to World-Class Execution

Have you wondered what SIX Sustainable Industry X (SIX) actually is and what is its story? The newly published 'SIX System of Impact – The SIX Story from Joint Vision to World-Class Execution' provides a comprehensive overview of this joint national initiative between industry and the research community, established at the turn of the 2020s.
How was a shared platform for industrial renewal built in Finland, bringing together industry, research organisations and public sector actors, and what lessons were learned along the way? A new publication, available in both Finnish and English, tells the story of the origins, growth and impact of the Sustainable Industry X (SIX) initiative, which aims to accelerate the digital and green transformation of Finnish industry.
Tampere University and VTT have played a pivotal role in the creation and development of SIX from the very beginning. The university has contributed extensively to the initiative's content, tools and operating models, including the development of industry research roadmaps and the establishment of a national research network. Over its six years of operation, SIX has evolved into a significant industry-driven initiative that accelerates the green and digital transition while strengthening the competitiveness of Finnish industry through concrete actions and practical collaboration.
SIX has become particularly known for its hands-on approach, especially within the mobile work machines sector. In the mobile machines cluster, industrial companies, research organisations and public stakeholders are working together to build a future in which Finnish expertise becomes a source of sustainable growth, high-value-added exports and global competitiveness.
The publication offers an insightful overview of how long-term collaboration between academia and industry has helped strengthen Finland’s position as a leading developer of sustainable industrial solutions and the next-generation mobile work machines.
