Next Generation mining and heavy machinery 5G business models and ecosystems (NeMECo)

MAIN OBJECTIVE

The project studies ecosystems and their emerging business models.
Ecosystems are organizational collectives combining forces to create value offerings to a defined audience, and most often an ecosystem is defined based on an organization’s most critically dependent partners in terms of the organization’s future. The project aims at mapping and exploring the ecosystem and emerging 5G business models particularly related to mining and heavy machinery, bin addition to creating general knowledge on ecosystem orchestration, shared business models, and value-creation logic in ecosystems.

OBJECTIVES
in more detail

The overall aim of the project is to bring forward perspectives on the value-creation logic of 5G technology-enabled innovation ecosystems, with a primary focus on a) mining and b) heavy machinery, and a secondary focus on c) the Partnership Programme ecosystems.

The following objectives detail the aim of the project:
  • Map the value-creating logic of a) the mining ecosystem and b) the ecosystem for wireless heavy machinery and develop future scenarios for 5G-technology as enabler of ecosystems.
  • Map the value-creating logic of c) the Partnership Programme ecosystems to explore business models and ecosystem best practices related to ecosystem formation and interaction practices, orchestration strategies, and ecosystem scalability.
  • Identify and develop future business models and/or business model innovations of a) mining ecosystem and b) ecosystem for wireless heavy machinery, including ecosystemic business models enabled by 5G connectivity.
  • Develop scenarios of a general ecosystem model for a range of ecosystems, including initial models of an “ecosystem of ecosystems” (combining ecosystems) within and between (where 5G/wireless connectivity is the common denominator).
  • Propose scalability of the mining ecosystem (5G connectivity as value creator) and suggest transferability of best practices from the mining ecosystem to other/emerging ecosystems in industries.
